Cream on Chrome // PNW Summers

Summer is here & I am haaaaappy. Sometimes I think I live in the wrong state & that I really belong on a beach in Hawaii. But I love the mountains, the forest & the fog of the pacific northwest and when it’s 75 degrees and sunny, Seattle is the definition of perfection.

But as I’m anxiously awaiting the summer days, one thing becomes blazingly clear. My closet is mostly full of items that would make more sense if I lived in Southern California. So when we hit that first day of beautiful weather, you can bet that I’m in a brightly colored skirt, sleeveless top and sandals, sitting in the park in Bellevue on my lunch break, tweeting to my manager that I might not come back to work.

I wouldn’t trade my summertime in the pacific northwest for anywhere else. You can find me in Hawaii in January, Phoenix in November & December. I’ll be everywhere else but here during the winter. But there is very little reason to leave this beautiful place from May-September.

Have a great weekend lovelies. It’s going to be in the 80s this weekend, it’s hair day tomorrow (new color!), breakfast with my dad on Sunday…it’s going to be a great weekend.

Seahawks, Skoah, and Snow

Washington State as been a flurry of excitement this month. Maybe you heard, our Seahawks won the Superbowl! My company let us go downtown to watch the parade. It was fun, and I’m glad I went, but never again. My legs were so stiff from standing in 25 degree weather for 4 hours. I have never experienced that level of cold.

Because of the Seahawks win, there were lots of 12th man giveaways going on and I won a power facial with Skoah Skincare. Obviously super excited, I never win anything. I went to their Downtown Seattle location (they have 3 in Washington, one in downtown, one on Capitol Hill and one in Bellevue.)

Their location on Pike is small & cute – just the perfect size actually. A girl named Cristina did my facial & it was absolute heaven. When I went in I was hesitant about booking another appointment but I did when I left. I also purchased a jar of their klearity mask to help with blemishes.

I am a hardcore Dior skincare advocate but the addition of Klearity Mask to what I already use has left my skin glowing & despite prescriptions from the dermatologist I’ve been using, I am finally happy with how good my skin looks.

And then it snowed. It snowed the night of my boyfriend’s company party. It started right as we were leaving and by the time we got to Bellevue, mind you its 7 minutes into downtown Bellevue from where we were, it was sticking!

The Point Inside company party was a lot of fun though, it was nice to chat with the few people who I worked with when I was there. It was at Cast Iron Studios which is owned by the same people who own Lot No. 3 & Purple Cafe & Wine Bar (which are always fab), so it was a great party.

I was not wearing appropriate shoes for the snow (style before snow though, I mean really). And it was actually quite glorious to take my shoes off in the snow and walk to the car. Probably why my feet didn’t hurt later.

One of my boyfriend’s employees came up to me and told me that it was nice to see someone who took the term cocktail attire seriously. I was so beyond flattered. My goal is to be the best dressed always, even with pink hair!

Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend! So happy that the sun is setting later and later. It makes such a difference.

From my office last Friday night. Seattle off in the distance.

Lots going on, more travel in a little over a week, down to Portland for work. Meanwhile, I’m wishing I could be in New York for fashion week. Maybe need to plan a little better for next year.

out & about – a new office and a busy month

I have hardly had a moment to really update. Between launching the new website for shoe designer Lina Zeineddine, working full time & adjusting to the new office location, and all the holiday madness, I’ve hardly had a moment to breathe.

Last weekend I attended a Blogger Brunch at Rene Ropas.

We sipped on mimosas and bloody marys and chatted. Then Morgan talked about being unstoppable and had another one of her speeches that inspire me every time she gives one. She then introduced the artist Dylan Neuwirth, who is displaying art in her shop (see photos above). And it was after the brunch that I went home, and was feeling inspired. I now have a project with Dylan starting next week and I couldn’t be more excited. When the finished product is all done, I will be sharing that.

The company I work for moved into a new office space in downtown Bellevue last week, and it has been so much fun. I love walking out to get coffee, and I can see the Seattle Skyline far off across Lake Washington. I have tried to be good & not go out everyday for lunch. But the first three days of the week we did go out, and then ordered in on Thursday.

I love walking around downtown Bellevue. I feel like I have been there a million times but only ever at Bellevue Square or the Bravern. Everything seems new, and there many restaurants and coffee shops to explore.

My desk at 4 PM on Friday.

The desk next to mine, immediately after the move last, last Friday.

This next week is going to be absolutely insane. I have meetings after work for freelance projects, Holiday parties for Point Inside & Ryan’s company, then it is off to visit my family for Christmas! This year has flown by. I can hardly believe it.

I hope everyone is having a great holiday season & that you aren’t too stressed!

Girl Power Hour 4 Year Anniversary & Bellevue Fashion Week Launch

Thursday evening, I had the privilege to attend my first Girl Power Hour event, courtesy of my friend and fashion designer, Sarah Yazmine. I was graciously upgraded to VIP and attended the VIP pre party at Bo Concept, where the very chic mingled and sipped free champagne.

I left the VIP party before it was over and headed over the Hyatt as the evening began. On my way through the courtyard, an Audi R8 pulled up to the valet. I had to do my very best to keep my jaw from dropping to the ground. If you have ever discussed cars with me, you know the R8 is my baby, and if I could ever own any car, that would be it. It’s so beautiful and mean at the same time. I could have stood there for a good 20 minutes and inspected it, but I didn’t and practically forced myself to go inside.

I had access to the very back lounge which was for VIP badge holders only. Not all VIPs had badges, there were a select few, and I was one. It was a fabulous feeling. I mingled around trying to find a few people I knew who were going to be there.

There was a rotating runway of Fall Trends.

(I want a fur vest. I am all about the fur this autumn and winter.)

It was such a fun and glamorous evening. I wore a Michael Kors top, Michael Kors shoes, and a F21 skirt that matched the MK top. I adore the top, I can’t wait to wear it some more.

Perks of being a VIP during fashion events are definitely the swag bags. The swag bag was loaded with goodies. Gift cards, charms, samples, just all sorts of goodness that I can’t wait to use 🙂

It was such a fun evening, and a great kick off to Bellevue Fashion Week. I am looking forward to future Girl Power Hours and will have to start going to these networking events.

saying yes

This has probably been one of the most eventful weekends of this school year for me, and I’m honestly thrilled by how fast this weekend went because I was out doing things. I barely spent anytime at home and was out and about.

Friday evening I went with Emily to Hot Shotz to see some people she knew from high school perform rap/hip-hop. It would have been much more fun if there were more people there, and people were actually dancing. It was fun to get dressed up though. I don’t have any pictures from the night, but that’s ok because I had so much fun being out on the dance floor with Emily. We ended up dancing with her friend Tim, one of the rappers. It was fun. Pineapple Rum is NOT the way to go however. I stopped after 1.5, way too much sugar! At the bar I had a Jim & Coke, but didn’t feel like paying for another drink, so after about 2 hours we left.

Saturday, having spent the night at Ryan’s with Emily, we drove back to our apartment, she lives near me, and after about an hour I texted my friend Liz and was like, Bellevue or let’s go check out Ross & TJ Maxx? We stayed in town and drove up to check out Ross. That place is a nightmare. I found a pair of skinny jeans for $15, but just didn’t want to deal with the line, and quite frankly didn’t need them, so I put them back and we got the hell out of there, and decided to go to Olive Garden for lunch.

I had Peach Sangria and Fettuccine Alfredo, but I gorged myself on breadsticks and salad. The Alfredo was OK …it didn’t taste quite as good as Mambo Italiano. I think I’ll be getting the Manicotti Formaggio next time I go there, their Alfredo just doesn’t do it for me anymore.

Afterward we went to TJ Maxx, I found a wok for $6.99 and decided to get one for me & Ryan after we move in August. We love making stir fry with the one at Ryan’s so I got one. I think I will be buying all my pots & pans at TJ Maxx from now on….such a deal.

We went into Best Buy after, I had to go lust after the iMacs. I want one so so so bad. I will need one eventually. Graphic Designer, yay!

The rest of the evening was chill, and Ryan and I relaxed. I fell asleep during a movie we were watching. I just could not make it through the whole thing.

Sunday I woke up and decided I did want to go to Bellevue with Liz, I had told her we should postpone it again the night before. So at 12:30 she was up and we were on our way in an hour. Stopped at Starbucks on the way out. They have stuff all over the windows for the Olympics, like welcome in 10 different languages. I wonder how crazy Bellingham will get for the Olympics. We’re only an hour south of Vancouver.

Anyway.

We made it to Bellevue after I spent most of the trip being slowed down by Acuras, Subarus and almost be killed by some idiot in a tiny Honda going 90 that decided he wasn’t going to get stuck behind a semi and with barely enough room changed lanes in front of me. It is times like that I want a phone number to call and report people like that. I don’t care if you’re speeding but he was driving so recklessly.

We stopped at the Bravern first. Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch, Jimmy Choo, Hermes, Salvatore Ferragamo, Neiman Marcus and some other shops opened last fall. I’ve been dying to go.

The Seattle Louis Vuitton is much more friendly and has a better selection. The Tory Burch store was AMAZING. It was small yes, but I am completely in love with how vibrant and colorful it is. Got a spy pic with my phone.

We went to Neiman Marcus & I think I found my heaven. Apart from the whole no visa/mastercard thing…I had to write a check, I found it odd, but apart from that it was absolutely beautiful. I’ve never been in such a beautiful store.
The ceiling above the escalator had these sparkly shapes hanging from it. It was gorgeous. And all the high high high end designers had their little boutiques for handbags and clothing. It was all so clean.

I got sucked into the cosmetic department. I wasn’t planning on buying anything but we were looking at shu uemura’s fake lashes, and then the product specialist named Esteban came over. And I wanted to play with the make up so he put some blush on me and a highlighter and lip gloss and then used their eye lash curler. And that’s when I cracked. I could not believe how much the eye lash curler did, so I was sold and ended up with that and the highlighter and the lip gloss. Their lip gloss, which I am wearing today, is awesome. My lips never stay moist and always crack. Their gloss is like a moisturizer/balm & gloss and it isn’t goopy sticky, like all my MAC lip glass. I love how my lips feel right now. I would definitely recommend it.

Esteban, the product specialist was a complete doll, and he did such a good job on brightening up my look in 3 minutes. He put me down on his “VIP” list, lol, and I gave him all my info. I will definitely be back…

After this we left and headed down to Bellevue square, which is the mall, but with way better shops and food. I was EXTREMELY excited to see the new Michael Kors store, which was so classy and clean. They had monitors on the wall playing the runway show. Absolutely fabulous, bright, vibrant, and the SA’s were really nice. Then we went in Burberry. It’s so horrible, every store we went into, there was something I identified and was like, oh, this is what I want…I saw this online…I’m not kidding…EVERY store. Love the Burberry store though.

The apple store was packed! And it smelled but it had every freaking computer possible–so I did a quick run through, lusted over more iMacs, then we did a quick browsing of Tiffany’s, then to Nordstrom.

spy pic. love the little one.

We grabbed some pizza, which was pretty good, and did some more wandering before taking off.

When I got back to Ryan’s, he decided we should go to Boundary Bay. I had a beer and nibbled on his Beer BQ Pork Sandwich on Ciabatta bread. Delicious!

Bellingham Blonde

Then I just hung out until midnight and came back to my place before forcing myself to go to bed. It was a good weekend!

Sometime in the business of this weekend, I ended up finding this place in Greece. It’s called Costa Navarino. I don’t just want to go there I want to live there.

I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

I have plans for this week, get organized and start building my website/design identity/business cards.
