Autumn Decor {Pretty Colors & Simple Things)

It is officially fall! Hooray! I went into Michaels the other day to buy some more yarn for some crochet projects I have going. Of course I left with more than yarn because whenever I enter a craft store in September, my inner homemaker comes out and I want to turn my apartment into a Pinterest pin. So I bought some items & made a cute little centerpiece that I can swap out materials in for different holidays.

Fox(y Lady)

Over the weekend I was shopping at Nordstrom for some of my essentials & while picking out a new iPad case, my boyfriend pulled a Kate Spade iPhone case down, with a fox on it, and I had to have it. I love foxes.

Kate Spade apparently has a whole foxy fall collection that is full of cute & stylish foxy things. That, if I’m quite honest, I would have bought the whole collection had it been sitting there in front of me. Here are some of the cute foxy things from Nordstrom.

1. Foxy Necklace / 2. Foxy Wrap Ring / 3. Foxy Patterned Socks / 4. Foxy Coin Purse / 5. Foxy Patterned Wallet / 6. Foxy Clutch / 7. Foxy Watch 8. Foxy Face Socks

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I’m prepping for a trip that will be here oh so quickly. Lots to share then.

Autumn Child

Well ya caught me. Last week I was bitching about Halloween candy being in stores and then today while out grocery shopping, Ryan & I passed the decorations to which I exclaimed, “Ooh, I want to buy all the things Halloween!”

Ryan then promptly called me out. Whoops. I can’t help it though. Autumn is a profound season for me mentally. Perhaps because some of the most impressionable moments from my teen years were in Autumn, so a very deep nostalgia is felt when I smell the leaves & have Depeche Mode playing.

It’s a romantic season. you could say I worship it. The pulling out of boots, sweaters and scarves; the purchasing of autumn scented candles; playing Celtic music playlists I’ve carefully curated for the season; these are my rituals.

I wish I could explain the Celtic music one. I’ve always been drawn to the British Isles & their ancient past. I’ve romanticized it quite a bit in my head & though I’ve never been, I have this very clear idea of what autumn in the UK looks like. Though I’ll get to find that out for myself in a few weeks!

The Autumn Effect

It’s barely the end of August, and I should be savoring the last few weeks of heat and sun Seattle has been blessed with. But darkness was beginning to fall around 8:30 and as if in acknowledgment of my sudden awareness of the looming season, the next day’s breeze had a crispness about it that finally indicated Autumn was already on her way.

The feeling of the breeze always makes me nostalgic & yet filled with anticipation. Boots, pumpkin spice things, pretty colors, and the overall coziness that comes with the season.

For some reason I associate the fall with the UK and start listening to Celtic music more & dreaming about fall in London or the Scottish Highlands. I couldn’t tell you why or when this association started, it’s just always been in the back of my mind.

So as I cling to the end of summer…autumn is beckoning me into September, with cozy dreams of what’s to come, not just this autumn, but next, when I finally go to London and make some dreams come true.

I’m in an autumn-y mood. I’m a romantic when it comes to this season. I love the leaves, the colors, the air, Halloween, the decorations. That whole autumn vibe. I love it. When I have a house, I am going to go crazy decorating. In a classy way of course.

The End of Summer

Today marks the beginning of fall. I woke up to terribly grey skies, the likes of which I haven’t seen for a good 2 1/2 months. The past week was warm and sunny and now a sudden drop in temperature tells me it’s time to stock up on some new sweaters and start ordering Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

But before I move fully into autumn mode, I have a warm and sunny note to end summer on.

My brother came to visit before he left for a year abroad, getting his masters at the University of Edinburgh. I don’t think I could be any more proud of my little brother & it was a blast to have him here.

The second weekend of September we toured some wineries in Chelan with family.

My outfit for the day: Dress-H&M, Shoes-Pour La Victoire, Sunglasses-Michael Kors, Wrap Belt-Unknown

There was an epic lightning storm later that evening. Which unfortunately caused the huge wildfire that is still raging now 😦

And I would like to share our newest member to the pack. Vogue is our little pom puppy, a nice companion for Luna. She keeps her busy & also enjoys being cozy…and loves Black Milk Leggings.

So with that, I bid summer adieu, and autumn Salut. Already have trips to Portland/LA/Chicago planned, and Decibel Festival is next week. Let the good times roll.

a little british class – burberry fw 2011

And now for a post with a complete change of pace, Burberry FW Collection is available for purchase. So lovely! It makes me think of Autumn, and crisp leaves on the ground. One day, one of their beautiful coats will be mine.

I would totally rock this Fur Lined Wool and Cashmere Coat. So much love. It looks so nice and warm! I can just see myself walking in downtown Seattle on a beautiful fall day in that coat. And the vintage fur lined hat I bought from Rene Ropas would match perfectly!

And as usual, I am a sucker for boots…all boots, any style. I saw a pair of moon boots on Nordstrom’s website. I would even rock those.

I love Burberry because of that English style. I have always wanted to visit England and I think that in part draws me to Burberry’s styles. The brand always has a classic English style and other times English with a twist, but it’s still quite easily recognizable as Burberry. I love it. The idea of a foggy, autumn London morning brings beautiful images to mind.

Quite a nice change from the more alternative, edgy, funky styles I’ve been loving lately. Burberry always reminds me I have expensive taste when I want to. And oh how I adore it.
